Moving house checklist

Four to eight weeks before

• Compare removal quotes and confirm what is included.
• Create an inventory and identify items to sell, donate or dispose of.
• Check access and parking at both addresses.
• Order packing materials or arrange a packing service.

One to two weeks before

• Confirm the moving date, arrival time and contact details.
• Notify utilities, council tax, banks, insurers and relevant subscriptions.
• Pack non-essential rooms and label boxes by destination room.

Moving day

• Keep documents, medicines, chargers, keys and valuables with you.
• Photograph meter readings and property condition.
• Check every cupboard, loft, garage and outside area before leaving.
